WF Morrison News, 12.9.13

· “A Hollywood Christmas” Winter Concert in the Activity Center, is tomorrow night—Tuesday, December 10 @ 6:00 pm.  Your child is welcome to dress like a Hollywood movie star since our students are in the spotlight at the concert.  Students must be there by 5:50 pm.  We are collecting canned food donations during the concert.
· Reminder: Send backpacks and warm clothing with your student every day.  Extremely cold temperatures are predicted this week, please dress your child warmly with coats, hats, gloves, etc.
· Open Activity Center @ Baptist Church, started Monday, December 2, after school until 6:00 pm, with supervised activities.
· According to Pizza Hut Corporate Policy, we will no longer be able to host Pizza Hut Book-It parties at school.  Students can still earn FREE pizza rewards for reading and redeem the coupons at Pizza Hut restaurants.
· NO SCHOOL:  Friday, December 13
· "Own the Night" Ski Vouchers for sale in the office.  Purchase $8 vouchers for Friday and Saturday night skiing (3-7 pm PST) at Schweitzer Mountain starting December 26—31 and January 3—March 1.  Two Sundays are also available this year: January 19 and February 16.  A great stocking stuffer idea!
· Our interventionist, Ms. Jennifer Higgins, has set up a mentoring program between high school and elementary students. Next, she will broaden this program to involve mentors from the community. As part of our fledgling character education program, several community members were involved in reading to students during Anti-Bullying Week. Community members will continue to be invited to read to students as we implement our character education program. During the month of December, we are targeting the character trait: integrity. Ms. Higgins has also been working with students and families needing assistance in improving attendance.
